KANAK DHARA YAGYA

Meaning of Kanak Dhara Yagya

Kanak Dhara means “a torrential rain of gold from the sky.” This Yagya symbolizes a shower of golden gooseberries and is known for helping with immediate financial problems, as it literally represents gold.

The Kanak Dhara Yagya is performed according to the teachings of Adi Shankara, a great philosopher from India. According to legend, Adi Shankara used to recite verses praising Goddess Lakshmi. As a young Brahmachari, he would collect alms in his village. One day, he visited a poor woman who, despite her poverty, gave him the last piece of amla fruit she had. Recognizing her kindness, Shankara composed a hymn called the Kanak Dhara Stavam to honor the goddess of wealth. Miraculously, a shower of golden amla fruits fell from the sky, rewarding the woman for her generosity.

Since that day, this Yagya has been considered very auspicious for attracting wealth.
